Kitenge reusable shopping bags are made of traditional eastern African fabric called kitenge. They are lined with donated fabric for added durability.

Each shopping bag has a small pocket inside and a label that is signed by the seamstress who made it – meet them on our website.
The income our participants receive from one bag is equal to 3 days of income earned from casual labor. Through our sewing program, participating seamstresses earn a sustainable income, while they learn basic business skills, with the goal of reaching financial independence.
